The mandibular symphysis
The mandibular symphysis refers to the point at which the right and left sides of the lower jaw meet near the chin. This point where they meet can be weak, and teeth extracted from this area can occasionally cause the two sides to separate, forming a split between the middle two lower incisor teeth.
