Pituitary gland
The pituitary gland is a small, pea-sized gland at the base of the brain. It produces several hormones that regulate many important bodily functions such as metabolism, fertility, growth and blood pressure.
The most common pituitary gland problem in dogs is Cushing’s disease, which can be caused by a small tumour on this gland. Our vet-written e-learning course Cushing’s in Dogs explains more.
