Gingiva

The gingiva is the smooth, pink tissue (although it’s sometimes dark due to pigmentation) that forms the gums. The ‘attached’ gingiva forms the ridges of the gums, where the teeth sit in their sockets, while the ‘free’ gingiva is loose and is found at the base of the gums.
