Petlearnia wins the Guernsey Venture Challenge

Petlearnia wins joint first prize at Guernsey’s second Venture Challenge

The Petlearnia team are absolutely thrilled to announce that we won joint first place at the Guernsey Venture Challenge pitch night on the 21st September.

The Guernsey Venture Challenge is a tech accelerator programme run by the Digital Greenhouse in partnership with Blenheim Chalcot, as part of the SMART Guernsey programme. The programme aims to support tech entrepreneurship and accelerate businesses.

As a shortlisted business, Petlearnia received 6 weeks of mentorship from Blenheim Chalcot, before giving a seven-minute pitch and then answering tough questions from the judging panel.

After a short break to discuss the prizes, the judges returned to announce that Petlearnia had won joint first prize.

Founder Joanna Woodnutt said “I couldn’t believe it! I knew it had gone fairly well but there were so many other wonderful businesses, I was so shocked when they called out my name. Winning the challenge is going to mean we can move the business forward by six months, which is so exciting! I can’t wait to go to work on Monday and get moving on this!”

Alongside the prize money, which will be used to improve their tech and create more courses, Petlearnia won 6 months of business mentoring from venture builder Blenheim Chalcot, which is invaluable in creating a business that can cope with the modern world. Petlearnia also won a space in the Showcase Guernsey pitch night in London, where even more people can hear about the ways Petlearnia wants to help pet parents and vets alike.

The judges could see that Petlearnia is innovative and has the potential to help thousands of pet parents, and by giving us this prize it shows they think we can make it happen.
