Diagnosis of exclusion

A “diagnosis of exclusion” is a diagnosis that is made when all other possible causes of a pet’s clinical signs have been ruled out, and there is no available test to confirm the remaining possible cause. Vets rule out other potential diagnoses by considering the pet’s history and performing appropriate diagnostic tests.
