Synovial joint

Synovial joint

Dr Jnanee Krishnasamy

A synovial joint is where two bones meet in a body, with a freely movable joint. Your pet’s body has lots of synovial joints – common ones include the hip joint, knee joint, and elbow joint.

A synovial joint is made up of several bits, including the bones that are meeting, and outer joint capsule. Inside the joint capsule is synovial fluid that lubricates the ends of both bones, allowing them to move smoothly together.
