Iatrogenic
If a condition or disease is called “iatrogenic”, it means that a human intervention (usually a medicine or other treatment) causes the condition or disease.
Iatrogenic conditions can occur because of a mistake by a treatment provider (e.g. an error during surgery) or as recognised unwanted side effects from a treatment. For example, iatrogenic Cushing’s is a potential side effect of treatment with steroids.
